CAT8 Cable

Category 8 Cable [UC-CABS8]

category-7a-cable
Description
UNICOM’s CABS8 cable allows you to transport data up to four times faster on the same type of cabling already being used like
Category 6A. It is a 4 pair cable 22 AWG with pairs individually shielded with foil and the twisted pairs are additionally enclosed
as a group in a braided shield (SFTP) to provide superior shielding performance. This cable is designed for applications up to
2000 MHz and provides transmission performance meeting Category 8 specifications.
As bandwidth demands continue to increase, choosing the right cabling is important to futureproof data centers for
requirements that lie ahead. Ideal Environments for Category 8 will be most useful in data center applications or small
enterprise LANs in commercial buildings. Because of the reach, connector limitations and its shielded-only requirements,
Category 8 is targeted for data center switch-to-server interconnections, primarily in top-of-rack or end-of-row topologies.
Twisted pair copper cabling has always been the most cost-effective way to deploy a given Ethernet speed due to the low
cost of the copper channel. As it is a BASE-T system, it also will have the traditional auto-negotiation capabilities, making it a
plug-and-play solution. Since the similar RJ45 interface will continue to be compatible, transitioning from Category 6 or 6A to
8 will provide a smooth 1G to 10G to 25/40G migration path.
Features
• Easy migration to 40GBASE-T networks
• Capable of supporting 25GBASE-T networks
• Power sum characterization gives highest performance using existing applications
• Provides additional bandwidth required for future applications
• Supports Backwards PoE applications
Applications
• IEEE 802.3: 40GBaset-T, 10GBase-T, 1000Base-T (Gigabit Ethernet), 100Base-TX, 10Base-T
• 2.4/1.2 Gbps ATM
• Data center switch-to-server interconnections
• Small enterprise LANs in commercial buildings (up to 30m)
• 3D imaging, Broadband & Baseband analog video
• Digital Video
